90 Days of Blessing Projects Announced
Following a successful Global Day of Prayer in the Wilmington community, the Volunteer Center has prepared for Pray Wilmington Inc. a list of potential projects the church community can engage in. The list follows.
Potential Projects for 90 Days of Blessing
1. Kaboom Playground WHIN at Willow Pond, Steve Spain/Annie Anthony CFVC view 12 minute video at Kaboom website for details, $10,000.00 200 volunteers, one day construction. Steve may have a local foundation with some money. He has the 50x50 location. 2 similar playgrounds have been constructed in town for viewing, an exciting exhilarating experience.
2. Wheel Chair Ramp for Worthy Family, Kathi,
3. Be A Mentor for At Risk Youth, Stephanie OTW @ CFVC 392-8180
4. Churches to Adopt a School, Charlon OTW @ CFVC 392-8180
5. Landscape Repair @ Willow Pond, 6- 6x6 flower bed timbers need to be replaced Steve Spain WHIN, onsite supervision Jada cell 262-5043
6. Badges for Baseball volunteers with Community Boys and Girls Club (David) 762-1252
7. Paint or repair homes with Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM) Jeanne Skane, Director
8. Canned Food Drive for Food Bank to restock local food pantries, Beverly Hollingsworth gather food at individual churches and at end of 90 days
9. 100 volunteers in 100 days for the American Red Cross Drive, raise awareness for or become a part of the American Red Cross in preparation of the up-coming Hurricane Season
10. Assist at Fit For Fun activity Center for preschool children many varied opportunities to assist 341-7855
11. Kids Making kids making wood working project Jeff Citrin 763-6001
12. Sort books for potential sale or shipment to India to benefit orphanage in India group of 20 welcome it Woodworking, assist this non-profit in their gift shop, or with helping under privileged weekday or Saturday at St. Mary’s, pizza served, 4-6 hour shift desired. 13. Organize a benefit yard sale to benefit First in Families, local non-profit that works with our families with children with developmental disabilities, they have the goods with which to have the yard sale. Additionally, others could organize the donations that have been given to the organization for distribution to the families that are at the office. Contact Johnny Johnson 350-2737
14. Special Project request from a special needs family in Long Leaf Hills needing yard work that they are not physically capable of tackling themselves. Johnny Johnson 350-2737.
