STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
OFFICE OF THE FIRST GENTLEMAN
What would you do for a neighbor in need? It’s the simple gestures such as mowing a lawn or preparing a meal that mean so much to families facing difficult challenges. Since 2001, North Carolina’s military families have been challenged again and again.
I’m proud to announce the creation of a new initiative – Carolina Helping Heroes – to connect service, community and faith-based organizations with families of deployed or seriously injured troops.
Carolina Helping Heroes is simple: Organizations register on-line at www.carolinahelpingheroes.nc.gov and indicate what services they can provide, and then military families can search the site for community groups near their homes. It’s an easy process that can support our troops, strengthen our communities and help those neighbors in need.
Carolina Helping Heroes cannot launch until we have enough groups registered—so that means we need you. With thousands of National Guard and Reserve troops called to active duty, military families are not just near military bases, they are in communities large and small across the state. This is our opportunity to honor their sacrifice by caring for their families – our neighbors.
Visit carolinahelpingheroes.nc.gov and register your organization. For any additional information please contact Julia Lee at julia.lee@nc.gov.
Thank you,
Robert W. Eaves
