Happy National Volunteer Week
President Obama noted in a statement Monday, "Whether through the workplace or a house of worship, in our own neighborhoods or in another state or country, service binds us together as Americans in a way nothing else can. It defines us as a people, and it is essential to achieving our national priorities." I hope that you each are feeling particularly inspired this week. I was able to celebrate National Volunteer Week in Washington DC alongside 20 affiliate leaders as we met with members of Congress to champion continued support for volunteerism across the country.
Richard Nixon signed the executive order to establish National Volunteer Week in 1974 - but no matter which administration is in office, it is you doing the work each and every day of the year that truly inspires, equips and mobilizes people to take action that changes the world. On behalf of the entire Affiliate Advancement team, I want to tell you how honored I am to work alongside of all of you as we continue to bring about change in the world.
